Asian American Coalition’s Community Services Award Presented to Muhammad Younus during a Prestigious Ceremony, attended by over 1200 Participants at Hyatt Regency in Chicago. (March-1-06)
Chicago is a multi-ethenic city where every year a different Asian community
takes turn playing host of Lunar New Year. This year it was the Indonesian
American Community of Illinois, who hosted the event for the first time, for the
community’s important event of the year. His Excellency the Ambassador of the
Republic of Indonesia to the United States of America, Honorable Sudjadnan
Parnohadiningrat presented the prestigious Community Service Award to Younus M.
Suleman, Senior Vice Coordinator, MQM International Relations Division and a
Naturalized U.S. Citizen with Pakistan origin, who has made significant
contributions to the Asian Pacific American community. Currently, Younus is
working as an Acting District Director\Suburban Area Director responsible for
community and grassroots outreach throughout the District with special emphasis
on South Suburban municipalities.
Mr. Younus represents Congressman Bobby L. Rush. He has a close personal
relationship with all the community organizations, chambers of commerce,
financial institutions, local, state and federal economic development planning
departments. Works closely with the diplomats, U.S. Department of State, The
White House Bureau of South Asian Affairs, and U.S. House of Representatives,
Senators and their staff regarding issues and concerns in general and
particularly political development in Pakistan.
Since 1996 to present, Mr. Younus has broadened his working relationship with
both public and private sectors. He has developed the confidence among small
business owners, women owned businesses and minority contractors. Prior to
working for Congressman Rush, Younus worked as an Assistant to the then State
Treasurer, Pat Quinn (now is the Lt. Governor of Illinois). His major
accomplishments include creation of Asian American Advisory Council, organized
and successfully implemented the First Asian Small Business Conference and
helped International Bank of Chicago and Asian Small Businesses who received the
low interest funds in state deposits. Mr. Younus has held major positions
