MQM USA and UNHCR enters into a historic partnership in Relief Activities for Pakistan. NATO also enters the similar agreement with the UNHCR. UNHCR donating 100,000 blankets to MQM USA for direct distribution in Pakistan. An initial $60,000 donation is also allocated by the UNHCR for the relief work in Pakistan.
MQM USA and NATO becomes two
partners in relief with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees UNHCR.
An agreement has been reached between the UNHCR in USA and MQM USA's top
leadership for helping each other in the earth quake areas where the other
party's presence does not exist but they do have relief goods for distribution.
UNHCR and MQM will use each other's distribution channels on the ground zero in
Pakistan.
MQM USA's delegation was comprised of Central Organizer, joint organizer Farhat Khan and relief coordinator Ibad U. Rehman. Whereas UNHCR was represented by its director Caryl Garcia and assistant director Ms. Wendy Young. UNHCR's director Ms. Garcia told MQM USA that the magnitude of MQM USA's efforts makes them a perfect partner for United Nations in these relief efforts in Pakistan. She also said that they have a very positive experience with their MQM USA during Tsunami and Katrina relief efforts where both organizations helped each other where needed.
NATO has also reached a same agreement recently with the UNHCR. This is really something to be proud of for all the Pakistanis especially MQM workers engaged in relief efforts in USA and worldwide, says Central Organizer Ajaz Siddiqi.
